How to remove the default “UNCATEGORIZED” from WordPress.

In WordPress by default our all post have category already selected is called ” Uncategorized ”
– whether they’re in use or not. For example:

I don’t have the option to delete the Uncategorized category but I can rename it only.

Deleting the Uncategorized category

1. Go to Settings>Writing
2. Change the default category from Uncategorized to another category in use
3. Click Save
4. Go to Posts>Categories
5. Check the box next to Uncategorized and click delete.
